LCD and Guild Wars
So I got my LCD monitor and plugged Guild Wars in only to find that it looks like CRAP!! The textures are messed up, there is TONS of artefacts all around the maps everywhere, it overall looks worse, especially clothing textures and the map which looks VERY blurry. I do not have this problem with other games. And yes, I did change the resolution to the 1280x1024 for the LCD and tried with other resolutions too but everything looks the same crappy. HELP ME.

Refresh rate on LCD's are 60h. I'm thinking the desktop res is wrong.

Sounds more like a video card/driver problem then the LCD.

I have a 19'' dell and it is crystal clear. Sounds like something wrong with your video card.

what is your response time
16ms or 25 ms?
if it is 25 ms it is not for gaming use according to gaming magazines and some brands are lousy for gaming period

Which monitor and video card are you using? The monitor has pretty much nothing to do with artifacting, that is a vid card issue (either overheating or clocked too high). I'm gaming across my dual 17's (2560x1024) with no problems whatsoever, post back with some more info about your setup.

My LCD is giving me the same crap. I have never had any problems on any other game, but this one is just giving me hell. I have a Samsung 17", but it has some artifacts and blurring around the center of the screen in a horizontal band. I don't think the reso is too high, but do they have to match in and out of game maybe? Also, I was thinking it could be a reso problem too. I don't have any specific drivers for mine, but I can check the site to see if there are any I can download....using the XP pre-loads atm.

Guys, this is:
1.) A technical issue. It ought to be in the techincal problems forums.
2.) Not a monitor issue. You monitor should not be causing artifacting of texture issues, you've got to have some kind of video card problems. Sounds like older DirectX (either the DX drivers, or a card that doesn't support the newer versions.)

It is a monitor issue. I had a CRT and everything looked fine. I have a 9800SE, not overclocked or anything. Everything is set correctly, i.e all of the resolution is correct, my refresh rate is 75mhz. I have all of the correct drivers installed, my response rate is 25 ms. Before I got my LCD I had NONE of these problems whatsoever. No artefacts, no texture mess ups. I'm not a noob, I know when to update stuff, and unless theres some LCD drivers for my monitor, I have every driver installed.

Nice
But back on topic, what kind of monitor is it? Most of the new ones should work just fine. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 192N and GW, CoH and WoW all look great.

You guys play games on a 25ms LCD?
Isn't that just going to be a blur fest?
25ms are for things like word and excel, not for gaming.

rofl monitors dont cause artifacts within sertain game's
its the video card people!
A) the vid cards to slow
B) its overheating
C) turn down the resolution in the game en lower settings and look if that helps
D) monitors really dont cause artifacts and textures problems thats a vid card problem look if it doesnt get to hot

Since this thread got moved here with your other one, i'll repeat what I said in your other thread just to make sure you see it.
Have you looked at ATI's site yet? They have an faq of sorts, for common problems with DVI flat panel displays, this would tell me that they are aware of some problems with this. They even mention the artefacts.
ATI faqs
Scroll down till you see Solve a Problem and click on Troubleshooting Common DVI Flat Panel Display Issues I'd give you a direct link but it doesnt like to let me enter past the general FAQ section with the copy and paste technique. Likewise anyone who wants to help should look here as well, it may uncover the solution...
Admittedly, I know little about LCD screens, but I figure if ATI knows somthing we dont...
EDIT:: I realize Garric said he/she was using a VGA, however you never know where a solution will come from. Check the link, see what you come up with.

I bought one of those monitors in March and about 2 weeks later I had a pin fall out. I'd just double check and make sure they are in there securly as well...
